Most recent Windows computers should be able to run NextPVR with no problems. However, make sure you have installed the software components listed below, before installing NextPVR.

Minimum Requirements1

Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003.

Pentium 4 or AMD XP 1.4 GHz CPU.

512MB RAM.

100+ MB hard drive space for NextPVR install.

50+ GB for recorded shows and other media.

A modern video card which supports DirectX v9.

Optional: Tuner card – NextPVR supports selected analog TV cards with a hardware MPEG-2 encoder and all digital TV cards which use BDA-drivers.

Optional: Remote control, IR blaster.

Operating System Components

Microsoft .NET Runtime v2.0

Windows Installer (v3.1 or later).

Microsoft DirectX 9.0c runtimes.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Runtimes.

Windows Media Player v9 (if running Windows 2000 or some editions of Windows Server).

Most of the required operating system components are kept updated via Windows Update.

1. A more powerful computer (with a faster CPU and better graphics card) is required for playback of high-definition (HD) content. Or if running several processes at the same time, for example, by recording one show while watching another, and then transcoding or running commercial detection processes in the background.
