NPVR version 2.5.9 or greater XBMC 'Frodo' nightly build (from http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/win32/) NPVR-specific build of the XBMC PVR add-on (compiled version here: http://www.dotnetdevelopers.net/XBMC/xbmcpvr.html)

The NPVR-specific PVR add-on can be installed from the downloaded .zip file under System|Add-Ons|Install from ZIP.

Once installed, the add-on must be configured with the NPVR server name ('127.0.0.1' if on the same machine) and port (default is '8866', as above). The PIN should be left as '0000'.

Once configured, the add-on must be enabled. Once enabled, it will appear in the Settings|Add-Ons|Enabled Add-Ons menu.

The 'Live TV' module in XBMC 'Frodo' is not shown in the menu by default. It must be enabled under Settings|Live TV.

Added lines 27-29:

Successful Installation

If the PVR add-on is installed correctly, then on selecting 'Live TV' in XBMC, dialog boxes will appear in the upper-right corner, showing the progress of your EPG, Recordings, and Timer information being imported from the NPVR server. When that is done, an information box will stay on the screen, displaying info about the next scheduled recording.

(:title XBMC 'Live TV':) As of October 2012, the nightly builds of XBMC 'Frodo' officially support NPVR as a "native" TV server backend. Live TV and Recordings are handled by NVPR server, but can be managed by the XBMC client.

Configuration

XBMC connection is configured in NPVR on the Devices settings page. The XBMC add-on currently requires a Server Name (a static IP is preferred) and Port (default '8866').

Firewall

You will need to allow NextPVR Recording Service (NRecord.exe), nextpvr.exe, and ndigitalhost.exe through the firewall on the host/server machine, otherwise XBMC will complain it has 'lost' the connection to the server.

Performance

The speed of the network connection between client and server is a big factor in performance of the XBMC Client. A wired Ethernet connection is recommended.
